Compatible Hardware

ChuteSort is designed to work exclusively with the Scale-Tec POINT Scale.

The app reads weight data over Bluetooth Low Energy from the Scale-Tec POINT Scale's BLE interface. Compatibility with other scales or devices is not guaranteed and is not officially supported. If you are using a different scale, the app may not connect or may display incorrect values.

Frequently Asked Questions

The app won't connect to my Bluetooth scale

Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your iPad (Settings → Bluetooth) and that the scale is powered on and in pairing/broadcast mode. Open the ChuteSort Bluetooth Setup screen, tap Scan for Devices, and select your scale from the list. If it doesn't appear, try cycling the scale off and on and scanning again. Note: ChuteSort requires a real device — it cannot connect to a scale through a simulator.

I granted Bluetooth permission but the app still can't scan

Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Bluetooth on your iPad and confirm that ChuteSort is listed and toggled on. If you previously denied the permission you will need to enable it manually here; the app cannot prompt you a second time.

Weight readings look wrong or erratic

This is usually a scale calibration or Bluetooth characteristic issue. Confirm the scale is on a stable, level surface and is properly zeroed before connecting. If readings are consistently off, check whether the scale's BLE notification characteristic UUID matches what is configured in the app — refer to the README for how to inspect your scale with LightBlue.

How do I export my session data?

Open the session from the Session Management screen, then tap the export button in the top bar. This opens the iOS share sheet, where you can save the file to Files, email it, or share it to any compatible app. Exported data is a CSV file containing all weighing records for that session.

How do I delete a session or reset the app data?

Individual sessions can be deleted from the Session Management screen by swiping left on a session row and tapping Delete. To clear all data, go to Settings → Reset App Data. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

Does ChuteSort require an internet connection?

No. ChuteSort works entirely offline. All data is stored locally on your iPad and no internet connection is needed for any feature.

Which iPads and iOS versions are supported?

ChuteSort supports any iPad capable of running iOS 16 or later. The app is designed for landscape orientation and works on all current iPad models. iPhone is not supported.
